Bike-A-Roo Pics

Some pictures of PURE fun.

Below is at Beachside seafood,
then the bike rack once we took over,
then where we started.

Last Bike-A-Roo!

It's been a while since I posted anything.

The last B.A.R. happened a while ago...

But the night was pretty freaking awesome.

We started out at Atlantic Beach by Shelby's Coffee Shoppe. There were record numbers of participators this time. The head count was around 20 people. From Shelby's we headed to Beachside Seafood, where we ate some good food and drank some good beer. From there we headed down 3rd Street to CD Connection, where they had some bands blasting some beats. But it wasn't all it was cracked up to be so we headed to Monkey's Unlce, while another group headed to the beach.
From there we rode up and went on a secret ride through a secret jungle of smoothly grassed hills, pathways and sand traps.
After that, we raced back to Atlantic Beach and peaced out.

Thanks to all who participated!
We'll plan on doing another ride around May 30th.

April Bike-A-Roo

The Last Bike-A-Roo turned into Drive-A-Roo.

Hopefully this time the weather will hold out for us!

Um in case you can't read the flyer because it looks pretty small until you click it, we are meeting at Shelby's at 6:00 on Saturday and then riding to Beachside Seafood in Jax Beach...

See you there!!!

For Real the Next Bike-A-Roo

We are going to meet outside Shelby's coffee shop in Atlantic Beach instead of the previously disclosed location. We are still going to meet at 6:00 p.m. and ride to Beachside Seafood on 3rd St.

I will be posting a flyer soon.

See you next week!

Next Bike-A-Roo

Hey All:

Sorry it's been a while since the last post.
Things have been quite busy.

But, we are definitely having a Bike-A-Roo Friday, March 27th at 6:00 p.m.

We are going to meet in front of World Market near the Target at the end of JTB and A1A.  If you are driving, get off JTB on Marsh Landing Parkway and it's on the right.
From there we will embark on a cycle voyage to Beachside Seafood on 3rd, near Beach Blvd and take over their upstairs patio. They have delicious food and buckets of beer.

It shall be extravagantly fun.
It always is.

Mark your calendars and BE THERE!!!

Saturday's Ride

First and foremost, let me say that Saturday's ride was a blast!
We had a great crew turn out and a gnarly time was had by all.

Ride Overview:

Our trip there:
Everyone that came rode bikes this time. The weather was beautiful and we all had a great         time.

Culhane's:
-Without our knowing, it was live backpipe and drum night at the restaurant with      authentic Irish music and my hero playing the drums. ( He played the drums with two Guinness bottles at his side, and a draft sitting on top of his drum ready to drink as he was playing.)
-We also got free Southern Comfort bandanas!!

The Ride Back:
- As we were galavanting around on our way back, we stumbled upon an awesome house/front yard party in Neptune Beach. There was a keg going with live music (awesome acoustic reggae/surf style) and a bonfire raging in the front yard.
It was great until we were accused of stealing a camera phone and then decided we had about a minute to either bail or brawl- we chose to bail.
-The rest of the ride back was blissful, with the ocean breeze in our faces and no encounters with angry vehicle operators or police.

This ride was the same as the first ride, but I would love to go on a different ride
for the March B.A.R.  I'm thinking we will start further south and ride to a different restaurant just to change things up a bit. Let me know of any ideas. So far, I'm thinking we could meet at the Marsh Landing Target parking lot and go from there to somewhere cool in Jax Beach or Atlantic Beach. Let me know what restaurants/bars you would want to go to.

Thanks!

This Saturday!!!

Our second monthly ride will commence this Saturday (Feb. 21) at 5:30 p.m. at 16th S. Jax Beach.  You will see us hanging out riding around and showing off our rides before we leave...
I'll plan on being there a little bit early for anyone who needs to check out their ride and make sure it's functional.
If you need to borrow a bike, I have one available.  Just leave a comment or call Adam at
(904) 537-2800.
As the flyer says, we'll be riding from 16th to Culhane's Irish Pub, which is owned and operated by some really cool, authentic Irish people that visit my Starbucks on occasion.  If you don't want to participate in the ride, people have been known to meet us at Culhane's and just hang out there. But I won't lie, the ride there and back is my favorite part and you'll be missing out for sure.

See you Saturday

Weather

For the last (also the first) ride we did, the weather sucked. Straight up rainy and gross...
I just saw the weather report for next week and it is supposed to be clear, dry and cool on Saturday for B.A.R.! It should be perfect weather for a rambunctious bike ride. Hopefully the weather.com's forecast did not lie.

I also wanted to note that it is a good idea to bring a bike light if you have one because the police like to give people tickets for riding at night without a light. I can think of much better use of their time, but I'm not making the calls.  Just a heads up.

I don't know what happened...

Obviously the whole flyer did not make it into the
post.

So I will try to figure this out and maybe repost it at a later time.

But for now I must work on a peace corps application.

A Note

We are getting totally stoked about the next ride.
It will be a fun and relaxing gathering for sure.
Last time it was a blast riding back on 1st street with around 10 people hogging the road just cruising and laughing the whole way.

If your bike isn't in perfect condition, no worries mate. Just come out a little early and we'll see what we can do. I have some tools and a bike pump at the ready. At the moment I have two extra bikes, too. So if your bike is non-existent or really in need of some shop time, just let me know and we can grab a bike for you.

I have also heard concern about how far the ride is and what kind of pace we keep up. It really isn't long at all. It's five miles there (Culhane's Irish Pub) and five miles back at a leisurely pace where no one had a hard time keeping up. There is no need to train for this or purchase a road bike to participate.

I have a friend of mine who is going to start teaching my lovely wife and I print-making (Is that how you write it?). With this new acquired skill, we will have the ability to have t-shirts and various paraphernalia for future Bike-A-Roos.

If you can draw and have any ideas for shirts and various propaganda, don't be afraid to share on here or with us in person at the next Bike-A-Roo (Feb. 21. @ 5:30, 16th S. Jax Beach).

Thanks.

Next Ride

We have schemed again and decided that our next ride is going to be Saturday, Feb. 21. We will meet at the same spot (16th S. by Huegenot Tennis Court Parking in Jax Beach) at 5:30 ish.

Hopefully this time we can have the weather work out a little better for us.
I will plan on riding rain or shine.

It will be the same ride, only maybe this time we could plan on going somewhere afterwords? I'm not really sure. Last time we went to some friends' house and it was pretty cool.
Let me know if you have any cool ideas that don't cost much $.

Also, if anyone has some ideas for future rides at the beaches, let us know. Your input would be much appreciated and we don't want to do the same rides forever. You can post directly on this page with your beautiful ideas.

Thanks,

First Bike-A-Roo

Well, we embarked on our first official voyage in Jax Beach last weekend and it was pretty freakin fun. Thanks to all who came and hung out with us.
We will definitely be doing this again. The idea so far is to do it on a once a month basis, so I will be posting more info on that.
Ride or Die.
